It was a wild trade deadline this year, a lot busier than usual, and a bunch of teams in Conference III made moves.
The Stars, of course, made two moves. They sent Robidas to the Ducks for a conditional fourth-rounder and traded Dan Ellis for Tim Thomas straight-up.
- Traded Brandon Pirri to the Florida Panthers for a 2014 third-round pick and a 2016 fifth-round pick.
Pirri is an interesting prospect but was expendable once the Blackhawks traded for Peter Regin. Pirri will have ample opportunities to make the Panthers.
- Traded a 2014 second-round pick to the Phoenix Coyotes for defensemen David Rundblad and Mathieu Brisebois.
Rundblad is a nice prospect, though a bit older at 23. He’s more of an offensive defenseman and will have some trouble cracking the lineup this season. He’s a good piece for the future though. He’s played in 50 games in his career, scoring one goal and registering eight assists.
Brisebois is an AHL-only guy.
St. Louis Blues
- The Blues made no more moves after that huge trade for Ryan Miller and Steve Ott. They were pretty quiet during the deadline and weren’t really involved in anything else.
